Running CV11 And CV10 For ODBC
This document lists the steps for running CV10 and CV11
for ODBC on the same PC. This is provided for testing
purposes during this transitional phase. It requires that
you have already installed CV10 and CV11 on the PC.
You need two data sources, one for CV10 and one for CV11.
If ODBC for CV10 is already set up, then you have a data
source "Velocis RDS" and a connect.ini in the Windows
folder.
Install the CV11 ODBC driver.
To do this, navigate to CV11\bin from the command line and run
instodbc -a C:\CV11\bin RDS
to create a unique data source for CV11.
Now you have RDS and Velocis RDS in the Data Source
Administrator.
In the connect.ini that CV10 uses from the Windows folder,
you have an [RDS] entry with the Port for CV10.
Add an identical entry but with the Port for CV11. Or, you
may simply open the connect.ini in the CV11\bin folder and
copy the [RDS] section so that you have the correct Port
number.
Now you have two [RDS] sections in the connect.ini
in Windows, identical except for the Port number.
You can now run CV10 and CV11 servers on this box,
open Collect! CV10 and CV11 on this box, and the CV11Client
as well.
And you can access the RDS data source for ODBC for CV11
and the Velocis RDS data source for ODBC for CV10.
