How To Create A Screenshot
The process of producing a screen shot is really very simple
and makes our technical support so much more efficient.
However, if you've never been asked to provide a screen shot
before, here are the steps to guide you through this process.
1. After entering data in the appropriate screen in Collect!,
for example a Debtor screen, press and hold the ALT button
followed by the PRINT SCREEN button. This process "captures"
the active window on your screen and places it in the clipboard.
2. Now that the image has been stored in the clipboard, there
are several different applications that may be used to paste
the screen shot into, such as MS Paint or other Paint type
programs. For the purposes of this example we will use
MS Paint.
Proceed to open your MS Paint program. Once it's open, press
and hold the SHIFT button followed by the INSERT button.
This will paste the captured image into MS Paint and you
should now see an image of the screen that you previously
captured.
3. You will now have a screen shot of whatever screen in
Collect! you were working on last. From the top menu bar
of MS Paint, select File and then select Save from the
drop-down choices. This will open a new window.
4. In the "Save as Type" field, select GIF or JPEG. Choices
that are available depend on your operating system. Either
GIF or JPEG will produce a compact file size.
5. In the "Save in" field, let's keep this simple and save this
file to your Desktop.
6. Press the SAVE button. Now that you've produced and
saved the screen shot, it must be sent to Technical Services.
The best and most efficient way to do this is via email.
Simply attach the file of the screen shot you saved to an
email and send this to the person at Comtech who
requested the screen shot.
That's all there is to it. Congratulations on creating your first
screen shot!
