Introduction To Internal System Errors
Return Codes and Error Messages are used by the database
manager to report errors generated by functions, function
prototypes and function interfaces. What are called internal
error messages, are the errors generated when Collect!
interfaces with the database engine.
If you receive an internal error message, it is important to
follow the instructions given to correct the problem. Possible
damage to the data in the database may occur if these errors are
ignored.
WARNING: To ensure your data integrity, call Technical Services
right away if you receive an internal error. If
possible, take a screenshot of the error message.
It is important that the user who received the error
be able to provide exact information on what they were
doing with the application at the time of error message
occurrence. Details such as what menu option, what
specific screen, what specific key strokes / attempt
at process. This information is vital to assisting
a technician in troubleshooting the root cause of
the problem.
When an error occurs, Collect! logs the date, time, user and the
error code in the User History file, as well as in the Application Log.
These should be reviewed to help isolate the cause of the error.
