Field Type

The Field Type list shows the fields that we can import into. When you define an Import format, you will pick from this list of fields and then tell Import where in the source file the field information is located. Import Field Definitions are used by Collect! to determine how to handle the details of your import specifications.

Select File from the top menu bar and then select Import/Export and then Field Definitions to view the complete list of database fields that can be imported into.

tip.gif This list is READ ONLY. Collect! uses the settings for internal processes. If you think the settings have been altered, rebuild the list.

You can rebuild this list by pulling down the File menu and selecting Import/Export, Update Definitions.

Field

This is the name of the field from the Collect! dialog.

Record

This is the name of the dialog this field is contained in.

Field Index

This field holds a value that is used internally by Collect!. It is useful for applications that read Collect!'s database information. Please do not attempt to alter its value.

Offset

Size

This is the size of the field. This is useful when building an import. You will want to know whether the data you are attempting to import will fit in the field.

Type

This is the data type of the field. This is useful when building an import. You will want to know whether the data you are attempting to import is the same type of data as the field where you intend to put it.

Width

This is the display width of the field on the Collect! screen.

Subwin Index

This field holds a value that is used internally by Collect!. It is useful for applications that read Collect!'s database information. Please do not attempt to alter its value.

Subfield Index

Bit Index

This field stores a switch (ON or OFF, for instance). It is used for buttons, check marks etc.

This is the Field Import Specification list, containing a list of all the field types used in this import routine.

OK

Selecting this button will save any data you have entered and return you to the previous form.

Select this button to ignore any changes you may have made and then return to the previous form.
