Upgrading Your Collect! Version 7
Collect! Version 7 databases must be upgraded to Collect! Version 8
as one of the intermediary steps if you want to bring your Collect!
up to our latest released version which is Collect! Version 11.6.
Please refer to Help topic, Preparing To Upgrade Your
Database before upgrading.
1. Run maintenance.
2. Make sure you have user 99/99 and Exclusive for all steps.
3. Examine and clean up your data removing any blank or
unnecessary records.
4. Make note of User Levels. If they are the "old" numbering, this
will need to be addressed in version CV8.0.22
5. Make a copy of the database as a precautionary step.
6. Recalc all accounts.
7. Rebuild Lists
8. Install Collect! version CV8.0.22 on to the same drive as your
cv7 database.
Please obtain the Collect! CV8.0.22 installer from
our Technical Services team.
9. Start Collect! Version 8. After you enter your Company Name,
Collect! will prompt you when it sees that you have a cv7 folder
on your computer.
10. Select YES to upgrade your cv7\data into the cv8\data folder.
11. Sign into DATA to complete the upgrade.
12. If you are using your DEMO and/or PROS databases, you
can upgrade them manually after the DATA upgrade has
completed. Otherwise, you do not have to do the next step.
13. If you need to upgrade your DEMO and or PROS databases,
from the login screen, use the ' upgrade database' function
listed under the 'file' drop-down menu in cv8.0.22. You will then
be prompted for the directory location of CV7.
When prompted, enter the path and database for CV7:
For Example: c:\cv7\demo
When prompted, enter the path and database for CV8:
For Examplec:\cv8\demo
14. If you have interest-bearing accounts, please see this
section below before proceeding.
15. Run CHECK on your newly upgraded Version cv8 databases.
16. Follow instructions for Upgrading your Collect! Version 8.
Interest-Bearing Accounts
If you have interest-bearing accounts in your system,
please ensure that the Interest Detail settings are accurate.
Collect! Version 8 has several additional interest options.
You should ensure that interest is set to 'Simple' if needed.
You may need to use a report to tag debtors or F6 to select
Debtors with Interest. You will need to take into account
whether or not the interest is original or judgement interest
or actually interest calculated on the account.
Web Host
You can copy the HTML folder from the Demo into the Master
database so that Collect! can find all the necessary files
when upgrading.
